Abstract. The article examines topical problems and pedagogical conditions for the development of
volitional quality «discipline» among first-year cadets of military institutes. Methods and main ways of
solving this problem are indicated. The means of physical training (culture), which have a direct and active influence on this process, are determined. Parallels are drawn between various approaches to
increasing the level of manifestations of volitional qualities among cadets.
