Abstract. The article raises the question of the relevance of the use of tracked all-terrain vehicles in the national guard of the Russian Federation when performing service and combat tasks in the territories of the North. The technical characteristics that the machine must have for its use in severe soil and climatic conditions in the North of Russia are indicated. The most popular models of tracked all-terrain vehicles operated in the North of Russia and used in the civil sphere of activity are analyzed.
