Abstract. This article partially analyzes the problems of cadets’ professional training in higher education institutions for the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation. The questions of the cadets’ professional competencies formation in the field of troops engineering support are regarded. The concepts of «competence» and «competences» are distinguished. The interpretation of the serviceman professional competence is presented. The ways of improving the quality training of future officers by introducing new advanced technologies into the training process are proposed. The conditions and criteria for increasing the didactic system effectiveness of the cadets’ training in the process of operational activity engineering support teaching are revealed.
