Abstract. One of the grounds for termination of ownership under Russian law is the confiscation of property as a result of a person’s commission of a crime or other offense. The article examines various grounds for the confiscation of property based on the examples of legal proceedings initiated by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation. It is stated that the confiscation of property, which is not a punishment but rather a criminal measure, is an effective tool in the fight against crime.
