Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of current trends and prospects for the development of the system of advanced training and professional retraining of employees of the internal troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation. The main problems that arise in the process of organizing the educational process are considered (the lack of adaptability of curricula to new conditions of service, the lack of a unified methodology for assessing the quality of personnel training, the low level of motivation of personnel for training and the need to take into account the specifics of the operational and tactical situation). The author conducts a comparative analysis of existing methods of professional development for military personnel and civilian specialists, identifies key areas for improving educational activities, and proposes specific measures to improve the system of vocational education and retraining. Special attention is paid to the introduction of new learning technologies, the development of distance education and the improvement of the material and technical base of educational institutions of the National Guard of the Russian Federation. The article is of interest to a wide range of researchers, teachers, and practitioners of government agencies involved in personnel management and personnel policy of Russian law enforcement agencies.
