Abstract. Independent educational activity in modern conditions of development of higher education is an obligatory component of the educational process and requires its own study. The article analyzes various views on the issue of defining such concepts as independence, educational activities, independent educational activities. The essence of the concept of independent educational activity of a cadet is revealed, its subject, purpose, conditions of effectiveness, forms and features in the conditions of training in the universities of the VNG RF are highlighted.
