Abstract. The article examines the characteristics of the basic (basic qualities) of military personnel, such as: purposefulness, determination, discipline, self-control, initiative, courage, bravery, courage, stamina, perseverance, energy, diligence. In particular, the modern problem of the methodology for diagnosing the level of manifestations of volitional qualities of the personality by military personnel is
determined.
