Abstract. The article substantiates the role of the discipline «Informatics and information technologies in professional activity» for the formation of professional competencies of officers trained in the higher education system for the national guard of the Russian Federation. Trends in the place of discipline in the training of trainees are noted, and possible directions for strengthening the integration of discipline into the structure of professional training of a modern officer are outlined.
