Abstract. The article examines the theoretical aspects of the sociological phenomenon of social tension as a source of social conflicts in military collectives. Social tension is studied as an integral social phenomenon that directly affects the functioning of the military collective, acting as a source of social conflicts. The conclusion is made about the importance of social tension in the occurrence of conflict situations, as well as the role of preventive measures to regulate this phenomenon in order to have a positive effect on the moral and psychological state of military personnel and the functioning of the military collective.
