Abstract. Analyzing the role of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation in maintaining the stability of the political regime in present-day Russia, the author of the article points out two main aspects of this issue. This is, first of all, the role of the forces of law and order as an element of the state mechanism in the implementation of the basic principles of the democratic political regime. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the National Guard Troops role in the realization of such a principle of the democratic political regime as the guaranteeing and provision of human and civil rights and freedoms by the state.
