Abstract. The article examines the concept of value orientations in philosophical, sociological, psychological and pedagogical aspects, their structure and functions. The role and place of value orientations in the personality structure of a contract soldier in National Guard troops of the Russian Federation is analyzed. Personality qualities are considered in the context of functional actions of servicemen. Professional value orientations are highlighted by the author as the more significant ones in the whole structure of value orientations of a contract sreviceman in modern conditions.
