The questions of the cadets\u2019 professional competencies formation in the field of troops engineering support are regarded. The concepts of &#171;competence&#187; and &#171;competences&#187; are distinguished. The interpretation of the serviceman professional competence is presented. The ways of improving the quality training of future officers by introducing new advanced technologies into the training process are proposed.
